1) Check that your openssl works properly;
2) Start with a fresh installation of binary mod_ssl;
3) make certificate;
4) check that your httpd.conf is configured properly
and mod_ssl will certainly work!
Last advice! Read the file INSTALL and you will find all the necessary
information.
