Hi,

I started in a new company and they are using Apache server with mod_ssl for
the security, the certificate just expires and I have no clue how to
re-generate a new one... As I don't know how Apache works nor SSL...

Apparently , a CA server has been installed on the machine as I can see some
openssl and ssleay command but I don't know how to use it, as I don't really
understand what's the difference between the different encrytpion type.

I did try to read the doc on Apache and www.modssl.org but didn't success to
make the link on how to re-generate the certificate.

I don't know if this can help, but here is how looks like the pem files
under apache/sslcerts directory:

issuer :/ST=World/L=Internet/O=XXXX/OU=Server Certificates/Email=XXXX
subject:/C=XXXX/ST=XXXX/L=XXXX/O=XXXX XXXX/CN=XXXX/Email=XXXX
serial :07

    Data:
        Version: 1 (0x0)
        Serial Number: 7 (0x7)

            Not After : Jul 6 09:23:27 1999 GMT
        Subject: C=XXXX, ST=XXXX, L=XXXX, O=XXXX, CN=XXXX
/Email=XXXX
        Subject Public Key Info:
            Public Key Algorithm: rsaEncryption
            RSA Public Key: (1024 bit)
                Modulus (1024 bit):
                    .......
                Exponent: 65537 (0x10001)
    Signature Algorithm: md5WithRSAEncryption
        ........

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
..........
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

( I change all the company information into XXXX)

I will really appreciate anyone who can help me to know how to re-generate
the certificate and link it to Apache.

Thanks, Maya
