At this point ALL the accelerators I've tested are indeed FAST. One thing
which has popped up during this testing however, and something I've yet
to do, is see if the 7110 will handle multiple vips and ssl certs on it.
My suggestion for any of you wishing to try SSL accelerators is to pick 3
companies, and get eval units. One thing I can say about nCipher, is they
are the fastest so far, but that I don't know about multiple certs there
as well. Also, given the fact that the new Intel chips coming at the end
of the year, beginning of next, will have FPU for SSL Accleration built
in. So in that light, it may not even be necessary to actually buy a
device specifically for SSL acceleration. Here's a spreadsheet I made in
gnumeric which shows my findings as to how several popular SSL
accelerator device manufacturers compare against each other.
