Hi Alexander,

This behavior is controlled by the define EAPI_MM_CORE_PATH which is 
set to "logs/httpd.mm" by default. You can change the apaci program 
during compilation of apache by doing something like this after 
configure and before make of apache:

mv src/apaci src/apaci.orig
cat src/apaci.orig | sed -e 's:logs/httpd.mm:/tmp/httpd.mm:' > src/apaci
chmod +x src/apaci

Another solution is described in the mod_ssl FAQ (see 
http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_faq_html#ToC14).
