The first-generation products (VOPMail 5.2 and below, Modus 1.x and Anti-Spam Gate 1.x) will be supported until January 1st 2004, and NOT December 1st 2003. This will give everyone an extra month to upgrade. Starting January 1st 2004, Vircom will not provide Anti-Spam updates to Modus 1.x customers and technical support will only be given for upgrade issues. Anti-virus updates WILL continue to be given even after January 1st, to make sure everyone is at least protected against viruses. This of course only applies to customers on active support plans. You are not forced to upgrade by January 1st 2004 as the software will continue functionning with the last Anti-Spam update and the Anti-virus will keep on working normally, with updates and all. At the moment, Vircom is writing 3 different series of Anti-Spam updates, because all three generations of our products need different updates. We are phasing out 1.x so that we are able to put more ressources on our newest generation (Modus3). Eventually, the same will apply to Modus 2.x so that all our efforts are put on Modus3's Anti-Spam engine. We also are running out of input from our customers regarding uncaught spam on 2.x and 1.x as a big proportion of our customers have moved on to Modus3, making 2.1 updates less rich as a result.
