Title: Message
I hope your having better luck stopping the Modusadm service than I am.  Mine gets stuck in a stopping state and I have to kill the process and restart it.  Doesn't really matter though, it is piling up again.  Are you running the newest version?

Mine is now jamming within 5 seconds of restarting the service.

There is no way I can keep up with the build up, it takes longer than that to restart the ModusAdm service.

Well I don’t think that the virus update  is related here, I do not see any evidence that it happens when virus updates are checked, right now ModusAdm is hanging every 30 seconds or so trying to get caught up.

Check the time your virus update last pulled an update.  Mine failed at 10:53am and the first message in my spool/spam folder is the same time.  From this point on spool/spam is now piling up like everyone else.  We are experience Internet problems getting to the virus update site at Vircom.  I am running Modus Gate Version 2.1 (Build 268) and seems to be effected just like the folks running the latest version.  I don't want to over speculate but this seems very odd...... Yves is also working with me to find out what may be occurring....

I can tell you that Yves and Vlad have been working VERY hard (and I would like to thank them) on this issue with my server and believe they have found something. They are working on a patch, until then just keep stopping and restarting your ModusAdm service when it starts backing up.

Yeah yeah, welcome to my life. I was posting about this in the Beta group all day yesterday.

When I first found it I had 150,000 messages in the spam folder.

Mine hoses up probably once an hour, it was good all night last night, but promptly started backing up at 9:19 am

another quick question. from a command line, we could delete the items in the spool/spam folder. would there be any problem with that other than the fact that the email would be lost?

Mail only ends up in the spam spool when it can't make it in to quarrantine.  Either a problem with quarrantine/SQL/ModusAdm can prevent that happening.

As for trying to get info on the folder try ALT-ENTER to get the properties or use "dir" in a command shell rather then explorer.

Explorer chokes on folders with large numbers of files.

yeah, i don't know what really happens in the spam folder. but mine is usually no more than 150 with 2,600 mailboxes. i'm very confused and somewhat concerned, because mail is apparently not being delivered

I just checked on mine, it has 53,000 and is also growing - I don't know what it runs normally.  We are fairly small and don't do that much mail.  What is weird I show nothing in the quarentine.  My sievedata.mdb is only at 37M
