I've started to write a response to this message three times now. Each time I've stopped myself for a different reason.
I've only taken a cursory glance at this issue, but if by "encrypted identifier" you mean this type of stuff:
42303030303337333135322E4D5347
I can assure you that is not encrypted in a traditional keys and hashes type of way.
If you are talking about something else, then ignore this message as the ramblings of an overworked programmer.
But if you are talking about the above "encrypted identifier" and Vircom doesn't want me to reveal the "encryption method" (I don't them to DMCA me :-), then contact me offline and I'll see if I can help you "crack the code".
I can't believe Vircom would actually encrypt some aspect of their system for a couple of reasons... they don't seem to mind people hacking custom solutions Vircom doesn't have time for (of course they don't support said hacks) and adding encryption to a system just creates one more headache for Vircom to keep track of.
If there is some actual encryption in the system, someone please enlighten me.
Thanks!

Hi guys, we are also looking into creating our own customized ASP page to handle quarantine content. It it easy to query the Access database to retrieve the quarantined mail, but we have also noticed that an encrypted identifier must be sent to the VOPWeb component in order to trigger the release. I guess this is for security purposes, but it is too bad and prevents 3rd party integration.
If any can share some thoughts, you're very welcome to do so :)
Thanks Regis

Hi Antonio,
The Reports generated include an Encrypted Identifier which the VOPWeb.ReleaseEncrypted routine decrypts. You would need to know the encryption used by Vircom to be able to present the user with a mechanism to release these messages.

Dear all,
i want to develop a custom Quarantine Report directly accessible from the Web, i found the quarantine message list in the table "tblMsgCatalog" but i don't uderstand how can I retrieve the right message ID to release the messages.
In the page ProcessRelease.asp i see this method called : ... VopWeb.ReleaseEncrypted(Request("id"), Request("domain")) ...
Anyone know how can I retrieve the right MessageID?
I've tried whit the MessageId in the Table "tblMsgCatalog" without success.
