* This is the modus mailing list * I had a problem like this a year ago and never found the solution. I changed cables and net cards then built a new box for my email server and it seemed to go away.
I am getting MANY calls from customers saying the connection to the server is broken. Both on sending and receiving. The error they receive is that the connection times out. BUT If I point them to a pop proxy or an smtp proxy on my network which then talks to my vopmail server, it works ok. What the heck is that? Is there something about maxium MTUs for the ethernet that could cause problems with remote dialup connections? Why would talking to a server via a proxy be more stable than talking directly to it?
