John,

I had a strange experience when renewing my Mog insurance last year: got a call
from a firm I had registered with who refused to give me a quote, but they
guaranteed to beat my existing insurer.

Sure enough, they delivered the goods on price, but the fact that they
contacted me and refused to quote a price made me feel somewhat uneasy.

It will be interesting to "play the game" in reverse if my previous insurer
contacts me this year to "win back" my business. Even more entertaining would
be to play two "no quote provided but we'll beat anyone" insurers off against
each other.......

I came to the conclusion that the insurers (or brokers) have the advantage:
they have staff who are paid to ring round to try to win your business. We (the
customers) have lives to lead, careers to follow (in some cases!) and trying to
get the best deal eats into our valuable Morgan-driving-time.

If I have the time this year, I might list all quotes with cover elements I
find useful... but then balance all that against AA/RAC cover (often provided
by banks to win your business!) and then give up and go for the "cheapest"
quote!

Good luck......!

Rob
