On checking the handbook, the +8 efi fuel filter should be replaced every 20K, they are next to the fuel pump under the rear shelf. I don't have itemised service records for 20K -before my time, but the car was serviced in April when it was logged as 40846 on the odo. No filter apparent on the bill and when I checked it looked pretty second hand and covered in grime, so its been on a while, so even if this isn't the problem it's past its sell by date. Before I checked it I was about to order a post 1990 RR Classic filter, just as well I checked as Morgan's used the pre 1990 push on/jubilee clip type on my 1995 car (£7.14) instead of bolt on connectors (£16.79 + 2 'O' rings at £1.19 each) - so cheaper to make and cheaper to service! Worth checking your handbook and making a note of the intervals for replacement service items and reminding your dealer what needs doing, don't assume as I did that all items will be done to a fixed schedule of works. Hope this stops any reoccurence of my problems as MAF meters aren't so cheap if it is that. Richard M800RGN+8

Could you have moisture getting into the distributor cap? I then slowed and tried again and had the same problem 3-4 attempts and then it cleared again and I then ran on without any more problems and exited the M4 at Theale drove through the business park as normal and arrived at our offices.
