Colin Have you checked the wiper relay under the dash, if it gets wet it can cause synptoms similar to those you describe Richard M800RGN+8

The wipers on my ’99 +8 have began to have a mind of their own. The normal rotating stalk fails to spur them into action, but flick the stalk down and they operate fine for a single sweep. Fuses have been checked and found to be OK, on the off chance that the flick facility is getting power from elsewhere. My money is on the switching contacts within the stalk being shot. Does anyone know what the model source of this item which has two stalks is? I see it is a Lucas item but cannot see a part number (I will have to remove the steering wheel to remove the unit!)
