Apply when new. The sooner the better. There is then little chance for the 
corrosion to begin. 

The only caveat I would add here is that, if you are planning entering concours 
d'élègance competitions, the judges don't like Waxoyl when they look underneath 
as it isn't elegant. This is where the "Pride of Ownership" class comes in 
handy at MSCC events, as they expect that you'll have done something sensible 
under the car and so don't get excited about it. Dave Wellings can advise
