Hi, If you don't want to use ASP.NET and/or System.Windows.Form it's up to you but note that the fact that there is a closed source implementation of them (i.e. Microsoft .NET Framewrok) doesn't mean that you should avoid their open source implementations (i.e. Mono or Portable.NET, IMHO Mono is much better:).
Note ASP.NET is not as Windows centric as SWF so the cant take advantage of Linux specific functionality thing is less true for ASP.NET than for SWF. I think that ASP.NET is platform independent enough. But you can enhance ASP.NET using Mono specific assemblies like Mono.Http or Mono.WebServer that are platform independent so can be used on MS.NET as well.
