The workaround is listed in the bug I mentioned in this thread:
WORKAROUND: hand-edit the .csproj and add a
<AndroidStoreUncompressedFileExtensions/> within the first <PropertyGroup/>.
<AndroidStoreUncompressedFileExtensions/> is a semicolon-separated list
of file extensions.
