The software we’re providing is for company staff, not end users, so I don’t expect them to keep up to date as much – especially as the person who uses the phone won’t have the right to update it, and nobody else is likely to do anything about it in most cases. I know some are using 3GS phones, and I have no idea when or if they ever updated them.

You have to change the minimum version to 4.3 (which is arm7+ only) which means you can change it to armv7. But if you do that, you might as well do iOS5+, which is what i did.
