There are good reasons to make your feedback private, for example not everybody is eager to share the information about what he has been buying and selling with the rest of the world.
It sometimes seems to me that privacy isn't really worth much anymore...

FWIW, hiding your feedback isn't exactly new, I've been seeing it for as long as I can remember now. I too don't get it, if you've got horrible feedback and you want to cover that up, sure, but why bother otherwise? Maybe they should just make the X stuff's item number (private) instead? The comment is all you need, surely?
