Oh, Michael,
I won't argue with you about the rock groups. You are quite probably right.
Mick is two days younger than me and we were all beginning to wind down then. But that Superdome concert was inspired!!-- if not necessarily by all the music, then certainly by the incredible atmosphere and the "cloud," etc.
And, of course, New Orleans has a way of "inspiring " everybody.
Lessez les bontemps roulez! (Let the good times roll !!)
Take care,
Joe B.

I will have to respectfully disagree with Joe on this one. The Rolling Stones were beginning to hang around with Warhol and all the fine society folks of New York's upper crust party crowd by this time. Drugs and glamour and limos and model girlfriends. Hardly rock and roll, in my opinion. At this time (78) you'd have to be racing after The Clash, Patti Smith, Television, Talking Heads, Ramones, Elvis Costello and all that if you wanted some real rock and roll. Small space, sweaty stage...absolute heart and emotion. The Stones had already seen their glory days and it was time for something real.

Wow!! I was THERE, folks!!What a concert! It was in the FULL New Orleans Superdome-- not the "concert" configuration that dwarfs the whole!A little-known group called Van Halen opened. Amongst forgotten others were the Doobie Brothers. And when the Stones finally hit the stage, management threw up on the Electric Crawl the official total of people who were in the building-- over 91,000!!!! The largest (at least then and I think, still) indoor crowd tallied in history!Oh, it was fabulous!!!I can still smell the.....coffee! A huge cloud of it floating in the upper regions!Ah, nostalgia! And you kiddies thought the era was "quaint." Quaint, my ass! Now, THAT was Rock-and-Roll !!! Joe Bonelli PS-- Thanks, Dario, for the nostalgia trip!Dario Casadei <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
