WHAT A GREAT PIECE of actual realization of what is REALLY happening in our movie poster collecting field. I SAID THIS BEFORE. It is ALL about SUPPLY and DEMAND, like everything else in the ENTIRE collecting or world economy. Prices have come down by a lot for most pieces, BUT I in fact, for the top pieces the prices have gone up. THis is what I see in prices realized. I am talking about top pieces everyone would like to own. The lesser pieces have gone down but in overall, a collector NEEDS to become very selective of pieces purchased. Since one year I only bid and purchase top pieces I search for. I hope that the huge supply being dumped will stop soon. I am so amazed how many posters show up again and again on EBAY or on other real life auctions. We see a definete change in our hobby.
Some pieces I passed on because of I THOUGHT was a price a year ago doubled NOW. How do I feel????? I passed on a Creature of a Black Lagoon for $7000 and $9000 and NOW? This happened a year or one and a half year ago at the Hollywood Garland show and NOW. I will never find another piece below $$9,000. I made many mistakes during the last six years, BUT I have to say that I always stayed with the best pieces and they tend to go up in prices. I am actually putting a list togeter of best pieces wanted for my collection.
One piece at Heritage sold for $1500 and I found it for a little less and I GOT IT. In any case, I appreciate Rich and Sam's comments of the state of our collecting field. I also do nto have the time to search EBAY every week. i wait for the big life auctions to hopefully get the pieces I want and I PAY A HIGHER PRICE because TIME IS MONEY.
RIGHT, TIME IS MONEY. This is the KEY.
GOOD HUNTING EVERYONE.
Greetings from an Austrian in Texas
Philipp
