Tape was covering the CINERAMA logo on a "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" poster I just bought. I applied Un-Du and then used the supplied scrapper and it just made it worse. I'll need to have a poster restorer fix it.

Darios heat gun approach can work as the adhesive will get gooey with
heat,, But be careful as to much heat will curl the paper or sometime

there is a product called GOO GONE.. its a citrus based liquefied of
adhesives..
I soak the label then peel off, then gently wipe of residue, IF its a
Flat paper poster the GOO Gone may leach into the paper giving it a
stain.. the other solvent is Bestine rubber cement
solvent, and there are other solvent.. the thing to remember is INK can
be rubbed of the Paper
so that is why Your are best to get one of the fine Restoration people
to do it for you so they can
spr! out gray hairs and have panic attacks for YOU..
I suggest If You must try on a poster that has little value.. as the
tape also leaves yellow from aged
adhesive.. and different tapes have different compositions.. Paper tape
has a Gum that almost
has a capillary action so it may need to be re-wetted. duck tape, cello
tape, Fiber based tape,
there are many tapes and in the days when they just wanted to mount
poster they were not choosy..
On fiber paper posters care is paramount.. Hopefully You will take it
to a experienced restoration
expert for best results. Good Luck.
