In general, the sale was quite successful, despite numerous posters which were in awful condition (a great many of which sold to phone bidders, so I fear that some people may not be too happy with some of the items purchased.)
Some categories were amazingly strong---with a very plain Shirley Temple window card fetching over $1,000, and there were a number of other surprises in various categories.
However, since it was an auction with over 600 pieces, there were some fine pieces which went cheaply, and others which were very expensive.
It was great to see some Mopo friends such as Sue Heim (who triumphed over some major competition to get a Suez one sheet that she wanted), Glenn Taranto, Grey Smith, and various others.
The poster market is definitely picking up, and my hunch is that the Tony Nourmand exploitation poster art sale coming up this week in London will be a fine success.
