Andy, You need to understand that when you censor what people have to say on a forum, when the information they are trying to get out is valid in regards to the hobby, people will be pissed.
It is normal for people to want to vent when they feel they have been treated wrongly or badly. In a hobby like this where some serious money can be spent by people, I find it bizarre that a movie poster site such as your own, would go to the lengths of banning or censoring people and their posts when they are trying to make newer members of the hobby aware of some of the crap that is out there, and the sellers which are believed to be peddling it. What's wrong with saying "I've bought from so and so in the past, and what I got was not what I paid for. Beware". With no censorship on NSFGE it seems to manage quite well. Tiffs are settled quite quickly, and the boys and girls on the forum are big enough to fight their own battles... You can't claim to be a great place for members of the hobby to come to if they want more information, when YOU decide what information they actually get. I don't know very much at all about the hobby which is why I rely heavily on the forums for information when I am looking at making a purchase which I might not be sure of. It's saved my hip pocket several times I can assure you. But if all I had was MPF as a source of information, I would have been ripped off quite a few times. The good thing about NSFGE, MOPO, MoviePosterChat and Style-b is that I know I can ask a question and will receive genuine answers. Not everyone who responds to my question will have the same information, and most cases I get conflicting posts. But it allows me to make a more informed decision. Better than just being exposed to one side of the story. It is unfortunate that you have been attacked on a personal level for what most people (and I must say myself included) believe is a very over- bearing manner of running MPF. I don't agree with the way you run YOUR forum, so I simply choose not to participate. But you cant expect to take the actions that you do and not rub people up the wrong way. I think this hobby needs as many forums as it can possibly get, and it would be a shame to see any of the ones that exist disappear. But I will take NSFGE and Style-b over MPF anyday...I have far more respect for Ari and Phil than I will (unfortunately) ever have for yourself, one of the main reasons being if I ask them a question, I know I will get a genuine and not filtered response. Two more fair and upstanding people you will be hard pressed to find in the hobby... You obviously visit NSFGE often if you are keeping tabs on what is being said over there. Why not participate and put your case forward to the group? Best of luck with your forum...
