Michael,
Yes, feedback rules and procedures on eBay should be changed, the
system has been badly broken for a long time now... there was a lot of talk
about doing just that on eBay years ago... but nothing ever came of it.
I think the most absurd feedback I have ever seen is when a seller
posts a negative that says "buyer never paid" -- and then the deadbeat leaves
negative feedback saying that "Seller never sent item".
On MoviePosterBid.com from the beginning we instituted a strong feedback
resolution process and (as far as I ever heard) never had a single feedback
problem or dispute among our buyers and sellers as a result. Very simply, the
policy was that if either party challenged the feedback that the feedback would
be IMMEDIATELY removed while the matter was investigated. Upon completion of
hearing both sides, the administrator could then reinstate the original feedback
or some modified version of it or else leave it deleted. I would think Rich
would want to keep the same policy in effect, but I don't think he's made a
public statement to that effect yet.
By the way, AOL is still bouncing any emails I send directly to your AOL
address.
