Remakes Remakes Remakes.

Oh boy what a quagmire?

Well we know that Italian Job the remake was absolute garbage. It cannot compare to the original nor could Get Carter. Mean Machine (twice remade) had nowhere near the atmosphere and levity compared to the original.

There are so many remakes that should not have been made. Dial M is prime example, Psycho another. The original (sorry I forgot the Silent movie) Frankenstien has never been bettered Karloff was THE Monster. Branagh's version was too long and drawn out and not enough well Universal horror.

However Coppola's Dracula was excellent. Willy Wonka is pretty good. King Kong is spectacular in it's big screen format but just so so compared to the magic of the original and the latest remake was perhaps dare I say it? too long.

Was The Spy Who LOved me better than You Only Live Twice? Moonraker better than either two? Essentially the same story. No not really just different.

Are there any films that could stand to be remade? Well True Lies was a remake of a little French film which reached bigger audiences.

But The Ladykillers was one film that should never have been touched, and now we learn that Dirty Harry and Bullitt might be in the remake stages!!!

Don't do it. Clint was is Harry Callahan, McQueen was Bullitt.

Talking of McQueen Thomas Crown Affair the remake was not great possibly equal but McQueen was the cool of cool and Brosnan can not carry off cool.

My nomination for best remake, sorry if I have droned on, is Oceans 11. For me the original was just the Rat Pack having fun, it was a tedious film at best. The remake was an excellent caper film in the same vein as The Italian Job (original) it was slick and well directed with just the right amount of comedy. Oceans 12 GARBAGE!
