Yes, it's great fun going to a poster event and meeting people you've dealt with on the internet or by phone (harking back to the good old days of MCW). I used to run into folks like Jack Gold, Dan Strebin, & the Demaios at the Courts show back when it was at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn in Hollywood (And I got to cozy up to Yvette Vickers!) The Cinevent, however, sounds like the uber-gathering of poster geeks. And...I've never participated in a live auction. If I'd been there last week, I'm sure that DEVIL'S HARVEST one sheet would be mine by now, dammit!

I too had a remarkable time at Cinevent. I discovered that Michael and I both had recently
purchased one sheets from Chandler, a ghastly 1972
Warren Oates movie that I had been a production
assistant on when I was a student at USC film school. I couldn't believe there was another person on the
planet who had a vague interest in that movie. I got
the poster as an entree to getting in touch with old
friends from film school. Small world.

Then virtually all the mopo folks helped me through
the anxiety of deciding to purchase a 'holy grail'
poster - an original dutch one sheet from Von
Sternberg's Blonde Venus...a magnificent Dietrich
image. No offense to my wife, who thank goodness
supports the purchase, I'm in love again. It was wonderful putting faces to all the active
participants in this group. Michael stayed at my
house, Alan H and son came over for dinner. And we
had a dinner out with Richard H and Sean L. Next year, you are all welcome to Columbus over
Memorial Day weekend.

Zeev!

I give a s%*t! I also had a great time at Cinevent
and met the folks you mentioned and more! I just haven't had as much
time to write stuff down since I got back but since I'm held back
by rain for a moment this morning, I'll chime in so that you know
that you and your messages matter.

I was also very happy to meet some non-MOPO folks at
the event and was pleasantly surprised by a few of the films since
I'm very unaware of earlier films and the ones where nobody talks at
all.

I want to take a moment to thank Alan Bayersdorfer
for his kind offering of a bed and the friendliness of his wife
and him and their dog. It was a real treat to stay with them and I'm
grateful to them for it. Also, I enjoyed some time with Alan Heimann
and son and Sean and Richard from MOPO as well but only met Scott
Burns briefly and, believe it or not, didn't immediately connect the
name due to road weariness and then never saw him again all weekend. Nice to briefly meet you Scott!

Now all I have left to do is publicly ask Zeev to
sell me those lobbies for less money because that's what I do. I
barter. $110?

All the best,
Michael
