MOPO membership HAS been declining consistently! We used to be close to 500
a couple of years ago, but never quite reached that number as far as I could
see.
Over the past 6 months we continued that trend, and have gradually been
shrinking in size from 436 ( March 2006, that's just happens to be MY
current earliest record) to the present 392, as per Bruce. That's a 9%
decline in a very short time!
I think that dipping below 400 for the first time in "ages" IS alarming, and
it could be important and useful if we could find out the reasons for this
trend.
Any ideas Scott?

Bruce... Bruce... Bruce...
How can you ask this... you, whose vaunted email club just went from some
3500 members to under 2000 in just a matter of weeks? tsk...tsk...
We can speculate, but it's most likely simply people dropping off who
never participated much if at all. The decline has not been that sudden...
it's been going on for about a year now. As for 10 or 15 dropping out ion
the past week or so... I suppose there may be some who were put off by the
recent flurry of off-topic threads, which generate a lot of extra messages
going into people's mailboxes that may not be welcome if the receiver is
primarily interested in on-topic. There may be a few others who found that
their baiting and ranting doesn't get the same kind of reaction here that
they get elsewhere and have unsubscribed in a huff. But we never know
unless someone sends us a good-bye and thanks for all the fish message
when they unsubscribe.
Do the specific numbers matter?

I just sent a message to MoPo about my latest auctions, and the
confirmation e-mail says, "Your message has been successfully
distributed to the MoPo-L list (392 recipients)."
Now I DO remember that Scott said that the above number does not
reflect all the MoPo members, but I looked back at my last MoPo
confirmation e-mail (from just 8/29, less than a week ago) and it
says "Your message has been successfully distributed to the MoPo-L
list (407 recipients)."
Doesn't that surely mean that MoPo "lost" 15 members this week? And
wasn't the "confirmation e-mail" number like 425 just a month ago?
What's the story?
Bruce
