Tom,
The crinkles can come out, but very stubborn sometimes. The poster needs to sit in the bath for a longer time to really relax the paper.

Painting over crinkles is useless. Better to sand down and smoothen out with mylar and burnishing tool.

I have 4- 40x60 framed and scattered throughout my place, all show minor bumps and creasing, wich is fine with me.

Dario.

Can anyone please tell me what option's one has in regard's to restoring cardboard stock 40" x 60" movie posters? I see these poster's sometimes paperbacked and also laid down on linen. Can anything be done with the crinkles or would the only other option be inpainting? Crinkles are so common with these types of posters compared to paper stock posters. Usually the crinkles are considered normal and the nature of the beast. These are quite limited compared to one sheets. Many were used outdoors and at drive in's. Like other movie poster's they were considered disposable advertising art. I am so glad in many cases this did not happen!!! Thank's for any ideas! --Tom Pennock
