Whenever I send out a request for titles, which is very rare, I always end the note with a "thank you so much in advance" for your time and effort. Afterwards, I try to respond to all the emails I get, especially dealers that have been kind enough to take their time, but sometimes I get a ton and may not get to all of them. I never ask for a poster unless the client wants it right now. I'm not into fishing. I don't have the time. I do it as a favor to a framing client anyway.
On the other hand, I've had some of Doug's experiences too. I have had some dealers respond to me, after I have thanked them for their time and telling them I will get back to them if the client wants to go forward, with pushy attitudes. Some keep emailing me daily to see if I have heard back from my customer. Some, when told that after having several copies to choose among from different dealers, the client bought from someone else. They get mad, asking if I found some "junk copy for less". This doesn't happen often, but the courtesy issue does go both ways. Many do reply such as David Lieberman, but in the last couple of weeks I have responded to people's exact wants with no replies whatsoever. No problem if you don't want it, but at least have the courtesy to reply to someone taking the time to let you know they have what you want.
