I have been astonished lately at the number of people asking for highly
detailed specifics on something you have, wanting to see high resolution jpegs,
sizes to the mm, and etc, and not having the courtesy to simply say, "Thanks
for taking the time, but no thanks."

Over the past few months I've weeded out the folks who I will reply to on a WTB
simply based on past performance of that simple courtesy when I've responded in
the past. I call it the "Dick List".

I recently had reason to reply to Sam Sarowitz's request for something, and in
both cases while the deal never happened he got back to me straight away with a
simple, "thanks for the time you spent, Best, Sam" - something in my
experience Sam always does.

Doesn't take much and certainly means that Sam won't be going on the "Dick
List" anytime soon, even if we never did another deal.

Ironically, many of the WTBs (whether on MOPO or as private mail-outs) are for
stuff that is either coming up soon on a major auction, or something that just
sold for better than expected results somewhere.

Subject: [MOPO] Lack of courtesy among DEALERS/COLLECTORS asking for WANTS

For the dealers and collectors posting WANTS on MoPo who don't have the
courtesy to spend the 30 seconds that it would take to reply to someone
offering you your exact wants, I WILL NOT be responding to your WANT LISTS
anymore, when I have exactly what you're looking for.

Many do reply such as David Lieberman, but in the last couple of weeks I have
responded to people's exact wants with no replies whatsoever.

No problem if you don't want it, but at least have the courtesy to reply to
someone taking the time to let you know they have what you want.
