Ok the books only date is tat Bobbs - Merrill 1911- which I assume ws
when the story ws written I aggree that the photoplay would be after or
dureing 1925 or perhaps later hwowever the book has no other date which
is strange itself.. there are no copyright notices or anything so this
is a odd bird,

tom,
how can this copy of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA be from 1911? the film was
released in 1925, so the fact that there are studio stills in this
book means that this had to have been published sometime after 1925.
so unless the publisher took copies printed in 1911 and added photos
and that front page which states that there are illustrations from
Andre Castaigne as well as Universal stills..it doesnt make a bit of
sense to me...
can you clarify?
thanks.
