Off-topic discussions have been a hot-topic for a VERY long time on MoPo....
I tried (a few years back) to open up the list a bit and asked for discussion on the topic. Surprisingly there was little response. (If I had the time I'd go back and dig up the ever-so-brief discussion out of the archives.) As I stated at that time, I felt straying a bit OT was OK. We're a small group compared to the "thousands" who register for web-based discussion boards and we have an even smaller percentage of our members who actually ever post anything. I consider MoPo to be more like a group of friends who happen to share a common interest in movie memorabilia. Personally I like learning more about MoPo'ers--and the way you do that is going OT now and then. I know there are some on MoPo who are absolutely against uttering a single word off-topic (you know who you are!) and you let others know of your mission to keep MoPo OTF (off-topic-free). But while I don't want this list to become a daily battleground on the "hot topic du jour," I don't see the harm in an occasional OT post, as long as the list etiquette of placing OT in the subject line is observed. For those of you who don't have a DEL key on your computer, please schedule a service call NOW!! So I'll try again and ask for opinions on this issue. I'm hoping for more than silence this time around. And why can't we all just get along? In any event, if God didn't want off-topic e-mails, then why did he/she make a delete key on every computer?
