I think it can probably be best done marking the front in the linen
border area (not the poster border)
it certainly is the most obvious place to put it
or it needs to be backed onto the back during the linenbacking process

Its not easy in most cases as the canvas usually doesn't hold ink
too well....at least the ones I've seen....and I've seen a few where
the ink has even rubbed off. And its definitely not a good idea if
you keep your linen backed posters stored flat piled on top of each other.
I think something like a silk label or something similar would have
to be ironed on.....but I think this would even peel off eventually.
Maybe if it were sewn on....but this would obviously need to be done
before it was backed.
