I know what you mean Rich. However, by floating it with a small border, the
tension clips behind the frame will definitely keep it in place. If it were to
fall off the wall, the plexiglass is rigid in front of the puzzle, so it won't
break apart that way and with a small border, there isn't much room to move. If
it did, it is easy to slip it out and recenter it, but I can tell you I have
done it this way a ton of times and the puzzle has never slipped. It would be
difficult to cut a mat matching the irregular border. You could lay the puzzle
over a matboard and lightly pencil around it to get the cut out. You could then
take a one sided razor and cut it slowly. However, most puzzles are thicker
than a matboard and if the frame banged around, you would have more chance of
the puzzle pieces coming apart that way, as the puzzle will be slightly above
the edges of the cut out mat. So, it's one of those things. Sometimes it's just
good to get it on the wall to enjoy it. Sue
