The other day Peter send us this example of the tracking number he got
using stamps.com to pay (paying only $1.95 for their "eSignature
Confirmation service). All the Big Name Experts tut-tutted and told him
it was not a "real tracking number" like the big boys use. So, I took
the number and plugged it into USPS. I noticed there was a link I could
click which would cause the Post Office to send email notices of the
packages progress. I submitted my address to that link. Here's what I
received from the Post Office today for that number -- Hmmm...it looks
pretty much like what one expect to get from a "real tracking number" to me:
Track & Confirm e-mail update information provided by the U.S. Postal Service.

I get tracking info no matter what method I ship(priority, first
class, express, etc). That said, I don't have a lot of faith in the
actual tracking capability of the USPS.
