I think part of the problem is Mature... he was a well-known Hollywood woose,
who played tough guys but was far from a tough guy, but a hell of a nice
man.... and a fine actor in the right roles.

Mitchum, on the other hand, was a hell of a nice man but who could nail you
into the ground like tack if you pissed him off.

Somewhere, floating aorund, are the out takes from his THE BIG SLEEP with his
set-to's with Michael Winner.

KISS OF DEATH is a great movie, but for a Mature noir one sheet, I much prefer
CRY OF THE CITY.

Can we see a pic of the KOD 3 sheet please Kirby?

I must say I disagree with Phil here. I think it's a really good poster,
and, in my view
it's one of those posters that looks better "in the flesh", so to speak than
any picture
can communicate. We have the three sheet but not a one sheet.

It's a great movie, but Victor Mature is no Robert Mitchum and GUN CRAZY
is, in many ways, a one-of-a-kind movie, thanks to Joe Lewis's direction... and
has great art.

Channing's notes that the studio deliberately wanted monochrome full bleed
art for the one sheet is interesting and one wonders what was behind this
thinking. But I don't see great design elements in this poster. Oddly enough,
the Australian paper, especialy the daybill is much more attractive, using
similar art and in colour.

Just checked, Channing still has his.

Don't know why this one isn't valued more highly generally, unless people
find the monochrome a turn off.
Up there with Out of the Past and Gun Crazy paper for me.
      Top Noir (literally) poster.
