MessageI would like to suggest Awakenings. Robert De Niro and Robin Williams
who have both done a lot of garbage films in the last twenty years, were both
brilliant. Every time I see that film, I wish Penny Marshall had continued to
direct and that the aforementioned actors had continued to act.

Since no one has picked this one, I'd like to add my vote for CHICAGO as the
best musical produced within the past 10 years and probably within the last
forty years. FRANC

Subject: [MOPO] Film recommendations of the past ten years?

I have been SO busy the past ten years that I have seen few movies
(which is funny, because in the 40 years before that I saw many thousands of
movies). Part of it is because I much prefer the "theater" experience and I
live in a small town with limited choices.

But my question to you is, "What films made in the past ten years would
you HIGHLY recommend as being truly exceptional?"

Know that I like movies of all genres, but I have a strong preference
for well written movies, and ones with really good pacing, and few slow or
throwaway scenes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
