Now we are getting somewhere... Now calmly tell me man.... Phil.. did Stanley Kubrick use 3 or 4 pieces of cardboard for his priceless stills..?? Its been 38 years Phil... I know its hard to remember what you ate at breakfast and what day it is...

so go outside... eat a paple and then think man... carefully and with deep concentration/// please you could cause the entire collector hobby to go mad... what if he used 3 1/2 pieces or maybe even worse used a piece of gypsum board...

so sit back and think... the entire poster kindom is waiting with bated breath for your memorey to kick into gear and produce a wise statement

I can see Satnley now gingerly wrapping his stills ever so carefully so that Mr Phil could open that pacakge and let out a happy gleefull moan of happiness...

also he probaby made some interesting face gestures as he put the archival acid free stills into the 38 year Pre- archival days when acid was rampantly abundant and creating havok on collections all over the world..

Thanks Mr. Phil.... I hope you will not incite panic in posterdom like Sue Heim has..:)

Use three pieces of cardboard (or 4) and make sure corrugations are crossed to add immeasurably to strength. Cross tape the package tightly so that the 3-4 pieces of cardboard basicaly become a block. On the inside, bag the item/s, tape bag to board so they don't shift around in transit, leaving a 1-1.5 inch gutter all round so the buyer has some "opening space". Around 38 years ago, I received a parcel from Stanley Kubrick's office of some stills signed by the director, and they were packed just liked this. I called up my contact at Hawk Films to pass on thanks Mr K. and commented about the precise way the stills were packed. She told me that Stanley packed all the parcels, including mine, as he didn't trust anyone else to do it. I've been packing flats the same way ever since. Phil

Subject: [MOPO] OT: Cardboard advice from the pros here....

This inquiry goes out to any of the pros here who ship flat items
such as stills or lobby cards. I am wanting to keep the package
light but strong (and I should mention... as inexpensive as
possible). What strength cardboard are you using? I see sheets
of 200 pound strength cardboard available but is it strong
enough. The sheets I always see are corrugated but are sheets of
solid (similar to postal boxes) available and if so, do you know
where? Any advice posted publically or privately is greatly
appreciated. Rick www.ilovefilms.com
