The lookunlike in card 6 appears to me to be the woman who's central
in the dress tinted green in card 3.
More likely to be her I'd say, but who can really be sure one way or
the other.
Looking closely at both cards I'm certain I've identified one of the
women as Jane Russell.
That'll do for me.

Sorry Rick. I meant #3 has the lookalike, and card #6 has a bunch of
floozies, and a couple who look like Marilyn on a very bad day.
I would think Mat's answer makes perfect sense, and it may have been
an "in joke".
How about someone trying to actually watch the movie?

Hi, Bruce,
Look at card # 3 and I guarantee you'll think Monroe is on it. No
comparison with # 6 (no way she's on it)--- the 3 3 card is a
different animal altogether.

Years ago, Dan Strebin had card #6 as Marilyn at Columbus. A few

Maybe he will chime in with what he knows.
I am amazed anyone thinks she is on any other card.

I have been watching the postings know nothing more that a number of
Monroe collectors have always been on the lookout for the Monroe
card(s) from the French Line. But like Rick, I have heard of this
card for years and this is the first time we have actually offered
these cards.
I know there is varying opinions as to whether the card six is
Monroe but card three is certainly a more direct shot and likeness.
Is there any known proof of her appearing on the set? Not that I am
aware of, but having collected Monroe cards over the last thirty
years I would often get the question, do you have the French Line
card or cards?

Yes, it does look like it could be Marilyn Monroe but it would be
good to know for certain if she actually did appear in any of the
scenes. There is no mention of her being involved in the film in
IMDB. As there is a notation in the Heritage auction that she
appeared in card 3 and 6, maybe Grey Smith could give us some more
information on whether there is actually a record of this or if it
is just anecdotal.

Rich, are you saying that because to you she looks like MM? Or, is
this the common wisdom among those in the know?

Matt
Marilyn is definitely the gal in the yellow gown on the card where
everyone is facing forward.
She may also be on the other card, but the coloring & printing of
the card make it difficult to be sure

mm might have been visiting but considering how difficult it was for
her to get onto a set (on time, at least), i doubt she would be
interested in a casual cameo.

Subject: [MOPO] Question:Does Marilyn Monroe Appear in a Lobby Card
From THE FRENCH LINE (1954)
Hi, Everyone,
Years ago, I heard that during the filming of THE FRENCH LINE
(Jane Russell,1954), Marilyn Monroe was on the set visiting Jane
Russell, who'd become her friend after they made Gentlemen Prefer
Blondes together the previous year. I always heard that Marilyn
Monroe appeared in one of the lobby cards. Recently, I acquired 6
lobby cards from that film, one of which (card # 3) is a song-and-
dance sequence with Russell and another brunette in the foreground---
behind them are 4 men in tuxedos and cowboy hats and a dozen
beautiful women, one of whom I'm certain is Marilyn Monroe. Why
don't we hear more mention of "the Marilym Monroe 'French Line'
lobby card"? I would think it would be quite collectable. Can
anyone offer any insight into this? Hey, if that isn't Marilyn
Monroe, I'll eat all six of the lobby cards for breakfast!
Thanks in
advance,
Rick
