While I often see Kirby McDaniel posting on MoPo, other than a couple of phone
conversations 5-6 years ago, I have really had very little interaction with
MovieArt Original Posters.
Recently I saw an item on their website that I was interested in. I was having
a little difficulty handling online check-out, so I called Kirby. He could not
have been nicer or more helpful. In addition to handling the transaction over
the phone - and even though I was quite sure that I wanted the Lobby Card that
I had seen on their site - Kirby insisted on pulling the item in question from
his stock while I was on the phone, and reviewing its condition in real time so
that I wouldn't be relying solely on the posted photos. He wanted to be sure I
was fully informed about every possible flaw in the Card before he sent it, and
he also wanted to let me know about the terms of their return policy, which
seemed quite satisfactory.
I recently received the card in a prompt manner and it was very well packaged.
My only regret is that he doesn't have more cards from the same title. I had
planned on calling Kirby to let him know all of this - and though sending an
e-mail to the whole group is a little less personal than a phone call to Kirby
- I thought that with all the buyer/seller horror stories from EBay, shipping
fiascos and all, that maybe a public acknowledgement of a delightful buying
experience would be an OK way to communicate too.
There are some other people on MoPo with whom I have had some great buying
experiences as well. I sort of regret not making more of a deal about all of
that whenever it happens. In the midst of some people who do our hobby a large
disservice, today is not a day that I am focusing on that. I appreciate each
and everyone of you who do the right thing. I'm taking a minute to say thank
you to everybody who sets really high standards and makes poster collecting a
better place.
