This obviously dates me....but my first date was taking a girl named Patty Gilbert to a Monkees concert. My mom gave us a ride because I was too young to drive. On the same tour, believe it or not, Jimi Hendrix opened for them...but not in Phoenix, where I lived at the time. Lots of great tunes written not only by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, but Neil Diamond (I'm A Believer) and John Stewart (Daydream Believer) as well as by others. R.I.P. Davy. WOW! I saw him in Oliver on Broadway as the Artful Dodger, one of the first Broadway shows I had ever seen. I never saw the TV series though to this day.
