Unless it was an Australian film, where 11x14s were produced locally - usualy
using a photographic process and not a litho process - lobby cards came for
their country of origin - the US and to a lesser extent the UK (where 11x14s
were not usually produced) but where 8x10 front of house cards
were.

Why there are vagaries to the difefrence between the original card you have
seen and these cards is lost in the mists of time.
I know of no "rule" that one can apply.

They don't actually look faded, they look like a different inking.

If those are snipes (not printed on) then there is no chance those cards are
from the first U.S. release in 1938.

I have never seen a 1930s Australian printed lobby card for an MGM U.S. movie.
I think they only imported U.S. cards.

Who were the Australian printers when itcame to lobby cards in the 1930's and
prior to 1946 and did they print lobbycards a lot or was it largely left to the
US to send them to Australia?

Also would the practise ever be for a cardto be sent from the US without a
printers name or for that matter in thatperiod would lobby cards (be they
re-issues or not) be printed without theprinters name ?
