No, David, it absolutely does not matter that you use a bit of hype to promote your business. Just a bit, though. Don’t flood the market with it, to use that journalist’s phrase. Sometimes I will state in my listings “MovieArt will sell NO reproductions.” It’s a convenient hook to hang one’s legitimacy on.
But think about it. I have now over 3700 posters on the site. Of these 3700 posters, what percentage of them have ever actually been reprinted? I don’t know that number, but I can guarantee that it is a low number. I stand by what I said. Of the film posters which exist in this world in total, far more are authentic than are fakes. I don’t know what the numbers and percentages are and neither does anybody else. Yes, repros do exist. FAKES ARE REAL !!!! :) Kirby McDaniel www.movieart.com On Nov 14, 2014, at 7:46 AM, Richard C Evans <[email protected]> wrote: > Nice work with the PR, but you've made a massive error regarding the future > of movie poster collecting. > > I can't be the only one paying heed to the wisdom of Tom Martin by divesting > myself of valuable originals in favour of repros. > > If your site was exclusively shitty repros with no danger of mistakenly > buying an original you'd have had my custom. > > Sent from my iPhone > > On 14 Nov 2014, at 05:14, David Rew <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Marketing. >> >> After 30 years in it ones learns how to do it.
