yes when I 1st opned my brick and moter store I had originals and none would buy hem.. matter of fact most peopel assumed Hollywood Dream factory® was a porno shop.. it was pre internet so I did mail order 1st...so i offered Portal celestial arts. ira roberst, MPr, and numerous commercial posters from Verherhe, Italy and UK and a few others.. even Germany poster art publications.. all where done well some as good as us posters and some better.. the Film freaks posters where excellent... the michael savegeu started poflake posters in Illinois and had some great titles but they where not popular withe the general public...like thin man andHollywood hotel... then it seems like everyone got in the act by mid 80s and soon the full size reprints and 27 x40 size was done by studios.. 1st in video posters then 1 sheets period and they dropped natiaonal scrennservice and using poster illustrators with rare exception lke Drew struzan...now most I see are photoshop and on d/s gloss paper and all rolled.I like photography however old school graphic art and painnters and even hand letterers still rock me...plus the inks and paper stocks of olld printing on stoen lith POP as the contrast and tactile feel is not coated as its rag content of the paper was very fiberous... so yes the vinatge posters have a certain ambiance alll thier own like fine wine.. but actually on my drive today to airort BTW dave got 99.00 ticket to Fla.. on alliegent air he said Detroit wanted 400.00//// But lets talk posters/guitars... the same things are true with Guitars my 1965 fender Strat with birdseye maple neck fiesta red i sold in 75 for lke 150 is worth 15-20K now,,, why??? about the same voodo mojo as posters... some how guys feel they are better sonding and all but in the 80s I bought a ESP strat that was fro m Rudys gutars on 48th street that had the same sounds of a old strst including noise and all for like 450.00... and I currently uses a 40.00 fender squier I paid 40.00 at a garage sale.. point is sure a guitar can feel better , look better... but whats funny is Fender came out with a relic series where they intentionall distreess teh guitar to look worn as people thought well played and work looked cool too... when I played pro I took good care of my cherry sunburts les paul and my 65 strat and fender twin amp...as it was a tool...again the point is the erogonomics, and esthetics of art, guitars and movie, music are ever changing and the bohemien lifestyle also is making a comeback like when I was in the 60s,, ya know abby Hoffman all that...yet the kids now emulate the 60s... as they want t relive what we did back then...I think its cute seeing epeopel with suede jackets army coats and bel bottoms and smellying lke reefer,,, they even want black light posters...its funny to me... but we ddi that back in 68 we put a peace sign on the bass drum, flags and those hideous love beads and ohh plenty off musk and incense... maybe some of you still do with your bongs and all.. :) I was in t shirts and jeans in the 60s andim still in tshirt sna jeans in 2014 because I like how it feels and i like to be neutral,,, I wear costumes(suits) to marriges, funerals and rare business meetings) remind me to wear t shirt and jeans to my funeral please: anyways folks dont let your meat loaf... shake it easy...! )

First of all, the best of luck to David for the new site.

Personally, I do not sell reprints on the website (and on the rare
occasion that I do, they are clearly identified), but I DO sell a
small number of reprints at the brick-and-mortar shop. I have one
standee with reprints, they are clearly separated from the originals,
and they are perfect for inexpensive decoration, which is something
I’m being asked for on a regular basis.

Nothing wrong with reproductions in my book, as long as they are
labelled correctly and priced accordingly.

Enough already with all the talk about eBay!
Everybody on this list knows by now about all the BS that goes on on
ebay, but is that what Bidll is all about? To be an alternative to
eBay?? We have Hershenson, Heritage, Movie Poster Bid, Movie poster
Exchage, (and you’ll pardon me if I don’t mention everyone), and
don’t all those provide ample alternative to the dumb eBay??

EBAY HAS PLENTY OF REPROS! Is that still news?

there are double the amount of repros on ebay than original posters
every day of the year (if not 3-4x)

Are reproductions and counterfeits “flooding” the market?
Really?
I don’t think so. Sure, there have been some fakes and some
chicanery.
But the vast majority of movie posters out there are authentic.

I wish bidll good luck, certainly.

But the idea that most collectors are going to encounter fakes
wholesale is just not true.

Think about the millions of movie posters that exist. And then think
about
what percentage of these you believe to be fake. In my experience it
isn’t even one tenth of one percent if that!

Dave,

How did these various newspapers and media outlets get wind of bidll
in the first place, in order to do these stories?

Did you (or an associate) contact them is some capacity to let them
know?

With reproductions and counterfeits flooding the market and major
retailers also using the sites as another outlet for their products,
Mr Rew said finding original collectible bargains was becoming more
difficult.

“It’s become less about finding that special piece for your
collection and more about shopping for everything else. As a
collector I don’t want to wade through all the everyday retail
items, the reproductions, the reprints and the knock-offs just to
find that special piece I need for to my collection.”

Bidll will cater solely for passionate collectors with reprints,
reproductions, fakes and counterfeits banned.
