wow,, how many remember when they sold the witchs time sandtimer? or the
winkee gaurd costumes.? or the gaurd staffs.. this week has been funny
as so many things have sold for 1/2 million 2-3 million and I sit and
wonder if I can get 100.00 for a poster on a good bright day..:) It
seems like the 1% are on a spending spree,, so if you have Robby the
Robot in your garage or the time machine/// you mayhave gold..
whats funny is my son makes recreations of props as his money
generation... one time he made a full size robot a Guy drove 300 miles
andgot here and said But its made of all kids of common things... he
expected custom molds of body parts and all... then I told the man..
did you know 90% of all hollywood prrops are just common stuff glued
together for On screen use?? in person you see the flaws as part of what
makes itwork is the lighting and now days CGI and other factors,, for
instance the star wars light sabers where actually Flashguns off old
cameras used in the 40s and 50s. graflex.. I sell them all the time to
propmakers that retool them and add stuff to make luke or Darths
lightsaber.. Lucasfilm used model kits and all kinds of odd parts to
make the ships and other stuff as they where inspired by Flash gordon
and others.. so itcracks me up whenI see people buy these "hollywood
artifacts" they used so many odd parts that are found at common garage
sales..well my son and I have done that for years as its basically
usuing the minds eye to see differnt things as other things.. Today I
saw a great quote from Disney" Its kind of Fun doing the impossible" and
Spielberg- " I dream at night and I dream during the day,, I get paid to
dream.. " when I think of allthe iconic Hollywood props.. and TV
props..several stck out. I personally like Back to the future,
Ghostbusters, and the dinos is jurrassic park where great.. raisers of
the lost ark..and the time machine and robots from lost in space and
others.. but many have been reproduced like that 66 batmobile you can
get for 100 K and the deloreon backpacks and even the tie up marty
mcfly shoes. somehow we have got stuck in the 1930s - 1980s in all pop
culture.. its odd...
my funnist thought today that made me laugh was picturing some wealthy
person with thier hand on the phone or mouse intensely looking as they
bid 3 million dollars for a lion sui used in a film and thinking to my
self Bert Lahr was probably paid much less for his role and other
performances is.. If he only was here I would also like to see his
expression.. somthing tells me he would fall over and faint like when
the wizard spoke to him. and be speechless. maybe its just me that
thinks this is just so bizarre but then Look at the entire planet and
this may be just how it is...my mom and grandmother would have said we
had our priorities out of order and I aggree.but I do thhnk Oz is a
cinema classic and should be preserved.. so glad someone did it. I would
have been good maybe for a 500.00 bid with 20% buyers premium :)
