They would periodically update their catalog and mail revised copies to
their customer base.

In the late 80s/early 90s I don't recall understanding/appreciating
"originality." Maybe full-size repros were uncommon then.

When I (accidentally) rejoined the hobby in 2009, I visited a few MP stores
in NYC and London, now all physically closed.
