Chris, Don’t think your friend will miss anything by not encountering RD. From my personal experience of direct, sustained interaction with him, the shark is much better company.  And more polite.  Is Jaws a horror film? Great question! I had never thought about it but I suppose I would agree that it is. Adventure/horror but still horror. Not sure what else I would call it. It is basically a monster movie, after all. Now, I wonder what that makes of Moby Dick?
