Helmut and Paul
well I think it adds a certain depth and story to theposters..
My son and ii attended the 1st star wars celebration in Denver co in
1999.. the IRa was havinga meeting in Denver with Charlton Heston...
itwas a greta fatherand son memory...Tommy myson had senta portfolio
ofhis pics as theywere looking fora kid to play Anikin skywalker,,, and
so Lucasfilm had Tommys pics and a video demo as Anikin
I tokd some clapboards as gifts to Drew Struzanand we met Rick McCallum
who was a producer of episode one star wars..I also brought like 5
episode 1 one sheets with me..
so Tommy got to meet Rickand he even called our home while we were
still flying home as he was touched to meet my son..and he sent hima
letter telling hime to never give up on his dreams
we also met Jake Llyod who played Anikin and would not sign mysons toy
figures...and we saw Jarjar binks play music and met anthony daniesl;
c3 po..
so it was fun....as i was looking at the artworkd i mentioned wow Drew
Struzan my fave poster artist and hear a giggle..It was Drew behind me..
i said wow its you !!!
so he talked to Tommy and said keep practicingand he signed theposters
in silver paint pen.. it was so cool I still have them
also itook Tommy to Detroit to meeet peter Mayhew and David Prowse ata
comic con/// theysigned his 14 x36 insert fromtheoriginal 77 star wars
My friend Peter Mosen was in GB part two and had a Ghostbusters 2
signed by everyone in cast except Sigorney I gave it to Tommy
that group will never be together agiain..as Harold has passsed.
with all signings if its toa person taht can detract if its just the sig
ita proof ofa time and place the artist have touched or been therein
Time and for me it cements a memory..
inthe final point its the memory thats forever with my son we werable
to meet many music people likebootsie collins.. les Claypool. Pete Best
, vvictor wooten, and more and the memory was the most priceless item
fora fatherand son
he met Jerry lewis and jeff Daniels senthima signed pic as wellas
Jerry,,Think Jerry was themost historic,,,I said one day youwill see you
meta guy very close to Charlie Chaplin...he also met Roddy MCDowell whic
was pure cinema historyand he even signed Tommys planet ofthe apes
dall..
so the sgs alone can be argued about values but the personal memorys are
foreverand priceless.....
hope that helps
Tom
Hollywood dream factory®

ps Adam westandhis wife sent Tommy Baptism pajamas when he was born in
1986 how cool is that Batmen sent him Pajamas...He also ahas the letters
adam sent me during the 80s about getting inthe 89 Batman movie... so
its memories that matter most to me....

It really depends on the poster and who signs it. I have a couple of
vintage posters signed by people that definitely increase the value
but if it’s a lesser cast member on it I could see it damaging the
value of the more sought after vintage posters.
True that Malcolm signs everything but I don’t think his signature
would really decrease the value of the ACO poster as he’s signed a
lot of them and the price would pretty much be around the same as if
the poster wasn’t signed. Only the Pelham designs would really by
hurt by adding a signature.
All the best.

I was wondering what you guys think about newer autographs on
vintage movie posters?
Personally, I like vintage autographs. I have a Subway Window Card
for THE WARRIORS that was signed by almost the entire cast back in
1979. Since the movie is a personal favorite, I really like that
one.
If I had the choice between an unsigned poster and one signed by the
cast in the last few years, I would definitely go for the unsigned
one.
Today, I circled around buying an expensive CLOCKWORK ORANGE poster,
which turned out be signed by Malcolm McDowell. When you take a look
on ebay, you find tons of MM signatures on stills, posters, lobby
cards, toy boxes, hats, masks, and what not. When I mentioned to the
seller that this guy apparently signs everything you hold in front
of him, he was totally offended and ended our conversation.
My point being: An original 1973 Bob Dylan autograph on a PAT
GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID Onesheet might raise the value of this
very affordable poster to a completely different level.
On the other hand, in my personal perception, a more or less recent
McDowell signature on a rare and expensive CLOCKWORK ORANGE poster
would much rather lower the value than enhance it. Again, this is
merely my personal opinion.
What do you think on this matter?
