Hi John,
This is why I deal only with U.S. shipping. After having postal problems in Portugal, missing movie memorabilia in Mexico, and angered Anglos in England, I've become a shipping chauvinist. (Albeit one who overuses alliteration....)

Subject: [MOPO] Sending items to the UK

Hi to you all

I sent a package to a customer in the UK. I had previously advised him that I was required to declare the full value and he agreed to that. It is now sitting in customs in the UK and he has apparently refused to pay the duty so it will end up being returned to me.

My understanding of the regulations is: For amounts under £146.00 we have to collect customs duty and submit it to the UK government. For any amount over £146.00, the buyer has to pay whatever duty is applicable.

I’m not interested in being a tax collector for the UK government so just curious about how other sellers on MoPo deal with the requirements. Also, is there any exemption for US sellers?

Regards

John
