Tommy,
everybody requires sign-in for post-auction details. Requiring a sign-in for condiition information on an open lot is something else entirely. My guess is they are simply too lazy to write a condition report and only do so upon request.
My past experiences with both Christies and Sotheby were usually dominated by brutal overgrading, abysmal customer service, lost lots (don't expect as much as an apology from these guys!) and ridiculous shipping costs.
It was fine when I was still traveling, could inspect the lots in person in their preview and pay up and collect my wins after the auction. I looked over the lots out of curiosity, but I have no intention of bidding in this auction or any of their other sales.

They have always required signing in for info such as past auction prices, etc.

I just noticed that you have to sign up with them to see a condition report. Interesting tactics, that is.HelmutGesendet: Sonntag, 30.
