[Khaled on the War on Poverty]
We have been here before. No properly thinking progressive denies
that welfare needs to be reformed. The system should only be there as
a temporary safety net, and not a way of life.

[Arlo]
Stop using common sense, Khaled. The only thing here we have a place
for is propagandistic rhetoric.

Certainly, no one thinks that the "War on Poverty" will eradicate
poverty and more than they should think that the "War on Drugs" will
eradicate drug use, or the "War on Terror" will eradicate terrorism.
Quite frankly, I find the "war metaphor" to be part of the problem.
In fact, when you hear someone say "the War on..." you can pretty
much bet that the only thing that will follow is useless party rhetoric.
