gav: another thing we all got brainwashed with -
survival of the fittest.
the dominant paradigm in nature is co-operation, not
competition. 'survival of the best co-operators' is a
meaningful statement, unlike the tautological
'survival of the fittest'.
if nature is one, if the planet is one, if the cosmos
is one, then co-operation is the obvious mode of
existence. even ostensibly competitive behaviour
becomes co-operative when viewed from a higher level
(eg predator -prey interactions are actually
optimising both predator and prey numbers for maximal
quality balance).
there is an intelligence implicit in nature - in the
cosmos itself - that is a mirror of the intelligence
that our own reasoning mind is a but a tiny subset of.
we can tap into that larger base intelligence by
becoming aware of ourselves and of the world - which
are two aspects of the same thing - the inner and
outer faces of Reality.

'The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be
aware - joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely
aware.'
Henry Miller.
